Lovers Screenplay by: Amal Hanna Directed by: Hatem Ali Happiness seems impossible. Pain is here, ever present. You must drink it one drop after another. You can't escape passing through the desert of loneliness—through enormously grievous losses. Death is the last drop for taming us. Omar has come to this point of frustration having lost everything, then he resigns himself to compassion aiming to reach comfort. He faces this after suffering the violent and impossible passions of the first love after the demise of his friend-wife.
Should we face death in order to know the value of things? The fearful question stirring inside him—the question he hesitates to ask Salma is: "Are you happy with me?" Is sit because he doesn't want to be unfair while he is carrying all such pain in his heart? Then he receives the answer: "and you?"…"I can't be happy by myself.." Maybe happiness does not lie in taking but in giving. But is it possible to reach such a stage before complete frustration, and before trying, for the last time, to come back to life? It's the story of a young man and three women, through a romantic treatment of three love stories which lead to questions about life and destiny through a calm handling which takes into consideration the means through which such stories are told. This drama is a try to contribute in making a Syrian movie defying all obstacles and hardships. In "LOVERS" there is an attempt to bring this art closer to viewers, through a digital camera. Because of the surrounding circumstances, this attempt is a venturesome and courageous, however it provides with additional artistic abilities. This work is starred by a number of Syrian famous celebrities: Sulaf Fawakhirjy, Norman As'aad, Salma Al Masri, Basil Khaiyat, Qusaae Khuli. Screenplay by Amal Hanna. Directed by Hatem Ali. |
